It's going to help Christian's in discipleship. Jesus Christ cares about it. He demanded that we make disciples. The Church needs it more then ever. It's something that I have been growing and learning about. The more I get involved in other people's lives the more I love it. Discipleship changed my life and I know it can change your life as well. There is nothing better then life on life with other godly men. As Christian's we all should be passionate at pursuing other believers for the sake of gospel growth and gospel ministry.
But understand that there is a cost to discipleship. It's not for the weak hearted. It's a life being spent for the sake of others. Just like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When you get into discipleship you are actually following in His footsteps. Its a command, and we have no excuse for not doing discipleship. To not do it is to say your life is worth something....and its not. Your just a clay pot made of dust and one day your clay pot will return to dust.
Think about it: God didn't have to reveal Himself to us. He in love came down to earth and took upon Himself a body of flesh, and why? To give His life a ransom for many. If you know He laid down His life for you, why would you not lay down your life for the church?
Here what Jesus had to say about the cost of discipleship;
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.For any Christian's in the Pacific Northwest,I really would like to encourage all of you to come out and be apart of. I also would like to encourage our one28 students at GBC to talk with their parents and come out for the whole day and learn about discipleship. It will be life changing. Its a very important issue in the church, and a great opportunity to equip followers of Jesus Christ in going out and fulfilling the command to make disciples. This will be a sweet time together as we study the Scriptures and see all that Jesus would have to say about this very important topic.
Roll up your sleeves....its time to get dirty!
