On the line living

We continued onward in Genesis 13:1-18 for part 2 of the sermon about Abram and Lot and their separation from each other.

I feel as if I got the bigger picture from this sermon. As much as I was encouraged by Abram's pursuit of peace with Lot, Genesis 13 is not about Abram. It is about the Lord. Not only does Genesis 13 begin with Abram calling on the name of the LORD, and it ends with Abram building an alter to the LORD.

It's about a man that honors the LORD. His worship is evident in his life. His heart worship towards God causes him to live differently. Abram trusted God in the midst of the strive among his men and Lot's men. He knew that God promised to bless him and make him a great nation. Sean asked the question of "Do you think Abram put enough on the line?" and I have to answer yes I do. I think Abram was more concerned about walking humbly before his God then pleasing man or himself.

It makes me ask how am I living this life? Am I trusting God in the difficult times of my life. I must remember that He has promised me eternal life and a better home that is to come! He has told me that all things will work out for my good. If that is not fuel to put it all on the line then I don't know what is! I have a long way to go because I know I can put more on the line.

Moment by moment in His grace and with His help I will look for ways to live my life on the line. May He grant me wisdom and discernment in that area of my life.
