A good reason for self-denial

I was listening to a sermon yesterday. It was so good I did a replay on the way home, but here is a quote from the sermon that is worth our thinking....I do think this can help me live more on unseen things now. It helped me gain a better understanding of what self-denial means.

"Self-denial is not so much an impoverishment as a postponement. We make a sacrifice of a present good for the sake of a future and greater good. Therefore happiness in God is of supreme importance because its the key to a life of love, a life of sacrifice, a life of risk. Whatever be done in the way of giving up, or self-denial, or deadness to the world should result from the joy we have in God" (George Meuller)
